About
The AIDA 3 Advanced Freediver Course is designed for certified freedivers who want to progress beyond basic skills and develop the knowledge, technique, and safety awareness required for deeper and more independent diving. Building on the foundations of AIDA 2, this course focuses on refining performance while introducing advanced concepts that allow divers to safely explore depths of up to 30 meters. Students will expand their understanding of freediving physiology, pressure adaptation, and the body’s response to depth, enabling more efficient and controlled dives. Throughout the program, participants learn key advanced techniques such as Frenzel equalization, freefall, and the use of structured training tables to improve breath-hold capacity and overall performance. Emphasis is placed on buoyancy control, relaxation, and energy efficiency, helping divers achieve longer, deeper, and more comfortable dives. The course typically combines theory sessions, confined water training, and multiple open water dives. In-water training covers the main freediving disciplines including static apnea, dynamic apnea, free immersion, and constant weight. Students also develop essential rescue and buddy procedures, reinforcing a strong safety mindset and the ability to dive responsibly with others. Advanced theory modules explore topics such as lung behavior at depth, barotrauma prevention, decompression concepts, the mammalian dive response, and risk management including shallow water blackout. **Prerequisites** - Be 18 years or older. (16-17) years old requires parent or guardian consent. - Have completed the AIDA2 course or crossover evaluation if crossing over from another org - Have completed the AIDA medical form and Liability release. To certify, students must meet minimum performance requirements, including a static breath-hold of approximately 2:45 minutes, dynamic apnea of around 55 meters, and depth dives to at least 24 meters, alongside passing a theoretical exam.
